The 87th Academy Awards show, or more commonly known as the OSCARS, took place on Sunday 22nd February 2015. The ceremonious show took place in Los Angeles, airing at 5:30pm PST and 8:30pm EST, meaning those of us in the UK (like me) had to wait until around 1-1:30am on Monday 23rd February if we wanted to watch it live. Or we could watch the highlights the following day.
The Academy Awards 2015 were hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. Internet rumours and reports state that Harris wasn't the academies first choice as presenter this year, they wanted Ellen DeGeneres to host it again as she managed to raise viewers by 8% at the 2014 OSCARS ceremony (according to hollywoodreporter.com).
Harris tried to bring some comedy to show by opening with a quote pertaining to the media storm about the lack of nominees from a certain race..."the best and the whitest, sorry brightest." Whilst getting an abundance of giggles on the night, there are various articles on the internet now talking about the likelihood of Harris being a 'little bit racist'.
Harris' previous work include TV Sitcom, 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'. He is much loved by a lot of the general public for these roles.
