"This is where we show the Oscars what the real public thinks and what real movie fans want. Brought to you by Luis and all your friends at Film Club! Join us as we break down each category and choose our own winners, loosely based on Academy Award nominees with the movies, actors, actresses, directors, cinematographers, special effects people and the like that you want!! Clubbie Nominees will be released soon, join us as we pick our own winners! I'll personally make ecards for all the winners and send them to their Yahoo! email addresses ([email protected]m sounds right doesn't it?)"
As quoted above by a Film Club member, the Clubbies were all about you, me and the general public. We held our own version of the Oscar's. We could nominate as many films as we wanted, for each category. The most important thing was making sure that the Clubbies were our awards... Not the big wigs, or the professionals, mine (well ours, but you know what I mean).
We had over 4800 individual votes for various films across 31 different categories. Averaging at 154 people voting per category. From a facebook group, to get that many people participating in one event was actually quite fantastic. We may have grown exponentially in numbers lately (having just passed the 8000 mark yesterday), the number of active numbers differs per day, week, month, season etc, so to have at least 150 members all participating at once was a feat amongst itself (It's all thanks to you, people of Film Club).
The awards were posted on the main page in Film Club in two's, every half an hour to start, then every fifteen minutes. The final two awards were announced just before the Oscar's started on Sunday 22nd February 2015. We had categories ranging from Best Picture/Film, Best Prop to even include things like Best TV Program. We wanted to make sure everything was covered.
Now onto the categories and there winners, please feel free to take a look through and see if you agree with our decisions.
