Earlier this month, MTV have announced the nominations for their fan voted movie awards ceremony. The program will air on Sunday 12th April.
While the nominations are very different to that of the OSCARs and the BAFTAs, we do have to remember that the teenage and young adult community play a big role in the lives of MTV (Or MTV plays a big role in their lives), a lot of the votes will be coming from them. We The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, Fault in Our Stars, and Foxcatcher up for more awards, not forgetting 22 Jump Street and Neighbors. These films appear to a wider audience of MTV viewers than the likes of The Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman. Even the category titles are tailored towards a predominantly younger audience.
I have picked out my votes, or at least who I think should win each category (in blue). I have based these purely on my personal preferences. I will re-visit after the awards and see how many I actually got correct.
