After stealing a mysterious orb in outer space, Peter Quill from Earth, is now the target of a manhunt led by a villain known as Ronan the Accuser. To help fight Ronan and save the galaxy, Quill recruits a team of reformed criminals known as the “Guardians of the Galaxy” to save the world.
A 5 star review for this movie from me. Before talks of this movie began, not being a comic book fan, I had never heard of Guardians of the Galaxy. However, it looked good and I did a bit of reading up so I was incredibly excited about watching this movie.
I wasn’t disappointed. It is definitely one of the best movies I have seen this year (both old and new, just first time viewings).
Firstly, I wasn’t sure how Chris Pratt would hold up as the main character, but the boy done good. He managed to keep the movie going all the way through. He also turned out to be pretty funny at times.
The comedy vote however, goes to Rocket. I mean, to start with, what isn’t funny about a talking raccoon – never mind one with attitude. Bradley Cooper pulled that off excellently and I couldn’t think of one single actor that could have done a better job.
I thought that Zoe Saldana played Gamora well, and she acted exactly as I imagined her too.
My only disappointment was the lack of Karen Gillan screen time, I felt Nebula deserved a little more on-screen acting time.
Groot, was amazing, well as amazing as a character with only three words throughout the whole film can be.
The star of this movie for me, goes to Bautista as Drax. Wrestler-turned-actor’s don’t normally fare too well on the movie or TV screen (apart from Edge in SyFy’s Haven), but Bautista well and truly pulled this role off. His character was amazing and the acting was actually worthy of a huge mention in any review.
If you can’t already tell, I really loved this movie.
