"We're goin' about this all wrong! We're killing ourselves trying to find good acts. We just book bad ones and kill them! We kill 'em before they're through, as soon as it gets unbearable, we kill them. Dead."
Director: George Clooney
Released: 2002
Runtime: 113 minutes
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind is taken from the memoirs of Chuck Barris. Barris was a revolutionary game show host and creator. In his memoirs, he claimed to have been recruited by the CIA as a Hitman. Reported to have been carrying out hits whilst escorting competition winners on their prize holidays.
So, first up, nobody actually knows if the information contained within his memoirs is true or not. He wrote that he was recruited by the CIA, but from what I could find on the Internet, nobody managed to find anything to prove these facts. Also, on a personal note, I had never heard of him before watching this film.
As far as the film went, it was excellent. I really enjoyed it watching it. It definitely fell into a number of different genres, there was no one specific genre throughout the movie. The film had comedy, crime, romance and thriller aspects to it throughout. Whilst following the story, it flicked backwards and forwards through different locations and settings.
Not being a big fan of Rockwell, I was expecting to not like this film, but I felt that Sam did an excellent job of portraying the crazy character.
Also starring Julia Roberts, George Clooney and Drew Barrymore - who I felt did a fantastic job in this film. They all helped to carry Rockwell.
