Director: Clark Johnson
Released: 2003
Runtime: 117 minutes
This movie gets pure hate wherever it goes. I have never seen any two or more people have a conversation about S.W.A.T without at least one of them hating on it. I just don't get the hatred. It was fun filled action movie. The acting was spectacular and there is nothing special or unique about the story but it's just enjoyable, mind-less fun. The kind of movie that you can kick back and relax to, not having to worry that you'll miss anything too major by a quick toilet break or to nip to put the kettle on.
The cast list for this movie is spectacular, I think nearly all the main stars have been in blockbuster titles at some point during their careers:
Samuel L Jackson - This man really needs no explaining based on his portfolio of work. Anyone who watches movies, knows who Sam L and what he can produce. We also know that every now and then he produces a stinker or two. S.W.A.T does not fall into that stinker category in my opinion - nor does it fall into the blockbuster list, its a middle of the road, decent movie.
Colin Farrell - I've noticed with Farrell, that the majority of movie watchers I speak to either hate him or love him. I fall into the latter category. It's rare I see a movie with Farrell that I haven't liked at least a little bit.
Michelle Rodriguez - Not my cup of tea, but she definitely works for some viewers out there. I fondly remember her from the Fast & Furious franchise as I'm sure most people do.
Jeremy Renner - I love Mr Renner. I loved him in Avenger's Assemble. I also thought he copped some tough stick for the Bourne movie. He had a tough act to follow in that he was billed as the new Jason Bourne, but that wasn't possible when they had Matt Damon playing Bourne for so long. I liked him in this, although I felt that his face was too nice for a tough guy.
L L Cool J - Musicians in movies. Hmmmm. I'm not sure how I felt about this. In this mediocre/medium lined movie, he did ok, but that's all they ever seem to do (for me its a bit like wrestlers... apart from the odd few who really do well, they all tend to get stuck making middle of the line movies).
Ok so I got a bit carried away there, but as far as S.W.A.T goes, there isn't much more to say. I enjoyed the movie. Lots of you out there didn't. Deal with it. :)
